As avid followers of an ever-expanding Chicagoland area and Illinois metal, punk, alternative, and progressive rock and power pop scene, we can all be thankful every day that there is always something new and fresh to experience. So, savor another hour and a half long serving of the newest and freshest music. It's a jam with a side of jelly, on this edition, anyway.
Joliet's Spamicidal Jelly might have you thinking that this five man Joliet band is intense hardcore death metal. Not entirely. They are a mixed bag of styles and genres. Incorporating everything from blues to jazz to alternative and 70s progressive rock. Singer Brendan Irons (Brendan Al' Jelly) joins me to talk about and feature songs from their debut EP, which will be officially put out during a pre-Christmas release show at Johnny's on Hickory in Joliet.
Eric Liljehorn is a dual persona lead singer. He can be a futristic, punky vocalist with Death Pop Radio, and a more melodic lead singer with In Europe Without A Jacket. This Naperville based Grunge Punk, Alternative trio released its debut EP, Whenever I May Rome, in the Spring of 2020. I have a sample from it.
It certainly got longtime fans attention, and then it didn't happen. Analog Digital Disorder (A.D.D.) broke news of its first live show in six years. They were to open for Hinder the first weekend in November. That was postponed due to an illness. Now, A.D.D. is back, and headlining December 17th at W.C. Social Club in West Chicago. I've got the details on it.
Never had an up and coming local metal band came close to the ferocity and high speed punch of early Metallica and Megadeth, until Lowell, Indiana's Testimony came along. Five years ago this week, they convinced me that you can still be young and replicate old school 80s metal. A rock back to when they blew the roof off Reggie's Rock Club in Chicago's South Loop.
