Making your cranium vibrate to the point of it pulsating like a rhymical woofer on a top-of-the-line audiophile speaker is Boybrain. This three-piece girl and guy drummer Chicago punk band sings not of anarchy but bloody murder and werewolf massacre on their debut EP In The Company of Worms. They get the opportunity to rock out ( not spook out) at pogoing Saturday night crowd, as the co-headline with the Prison City's masters (and mistress) of Doom Metal Black Road, this Saturday, July 16th at Elder Brewing. Guitarist Inga (Ingrid) Olson, Bassist Lauren (Dr. Doom) Robinson, and drummer Colin Tahi join me with all the details on the show and all the bloody scary effort that went into making their gruesome storytelling music video for Blood Wolf Moon.

Blue Island's The Repellants hope to attract a Punk loving crowd of old and new with a 25 year old regression back to tales of nerd herds and a beat up old famous expressway through the heart of Joliet, with a triumphant return show at Liar's Club, while Chicago Metal Trio Snow Burial piles up a heavy accumulation of remix for their bloody new single. Everything from industrial electronic dance rock to highly synthesized space progressive rock.

Known for her gravelly, but intimate vocal delivery, Holly Smith also delivered needed help for local Chicago metal bands who needed to book gigs, studio time or promotion of their new music. Then she gave her own music career a much-needed boost, becoming front woman for grease monkey hard rockers Hot Dang. Holly motored down to the Kat 105.5 air studio for a career makeover as one third of the Chicago Metal Alliance, nine years ago this week. A rock back to that.
