Yes, with any music intensive radio program, or podcast, you beg and plead for more music (and less talk). My talk segments here are only to help you learn and better appreciate the artist & bands in the original Chicagoland area's metal, punk, alternative rock and power pop scene. The music mostly does the talking, and rocking.

Metal nowadays is mostly talked about with an emphasis on angry, unclean hardcore singing. But, there's always and audience for old school thrash metal with discernable vocals. Imminent Terror, from the North Side of Chicago proves it, and will again, when they join Sinister Fate, Indign & Back Alley Debauchery of Rockford in a weekend metal fest at Rookie's Rockhouse in West Dundee. I talk with Imminent Terror founder & guitarist Rick (Warhammer) Hernadez about thier upcoming show this Sunday, January 19th, which features the classic high pitched vocal style of Andy Pindy Pindelski (also perfecting his singing style as frontman of Armored Assault.

It runs in the family, Music talent. No Cheap Tricks involved. Well, actually one. Founder of the legendary powerhouse band Cheap Trick, Rick Neilsen, has brought his oldest & youngest son along for The Neilsen Trust. Rick's oldest boy, Miles, goes far away from his old man's brand of Beatlesque pop rock. No jangling guitar or three-part vocal harmonies. Neilsen Trust had many Surrendering to their laid back vocal melodies. Miles also worked in psychedelic folk tunes with a Dylan esque snarl We give you a Heavy Metal jam that feels out of place in the genre, especially in the Forest City with Rock in its name, Cheap Trick's home base.

From across the border (Illinois/Indiana that is) Depriving The Masses has never once gipped fans out of a catchy medieval, futuristic fantasy world. I rock back to thirteen years ago this week, when I had the band in The Kat 105.5 studio.
