In cyberspace, many will hear you scream, and growl, and sing melodically. The airwaves are expansive. The ever growning and expanding local music scene from the greater Chicago area and State of illinois is on display, and the genres are limitless.
On LL #64,we gp from the extended free form Jazz and progressive rock of Sons of Ra,to the high fast adenaline rush Punk of Prison City Brigade. Sons of Ra was first formed 17 years ago by guitarist Erik Oldman. From a colorful, psychedelic art and music show at The Outtaspace in Berwyn, I interview Eric & bassist Keith Wakefield about their unique mixture of Jazz,Progressive, and hard rock, showcased on their debut EP,Anthropology. It's light years ahead of Beneath the Stares, the funky heavy alt-rock band Erik was guitarist for in 2012.
It's onto Joliet, for a homeless childrean benefit show at The Forge. The musical atmosphere gets way more agressive and brain crushing with Prison City Brigade. In a city known for it's dominating local Metal scene,PCB are a straight up Punk band. I talk to singer Eddie Cavanaugh, two former members of one of Joliet's biggest hardcore Metal bands,Orinoco, and the rest of PCB about the politcally, and angry influenced lyrics and music of their debut EP,War on Boredom.
With the annual summer event that blows Lollapalooza away,Revival, coarsing through your brain, you are rocked up and down by:
