Belly up to the cyberwaves, the music's on us. There will be no escaping or masking the mental image of an up and coming or established local band spinning heads and causing concertgoers to butt arms in the mosh pit. It's is possible to safely do that in person if you safely follow COVID health precautions, but for now just use your imagination that you are there.
Steator's Self Imposed Exile is embarking on the careful journey to psych up and spook out socially spaced out crowds in a Halloween Hellfest at the Terminus Theatre in Lake Villa. Before you make the choice to treat yourself to their live show, experience a modern day metal rock opera with two tracks from their eclectic debut, Mountainside.
Riot Fest was cancelled this summer because of the pandemic, but it's brand is hoping for a spooktacular turn out at a Halloween drive=in outdoor fest combining live local punk and classic horror film screenings. Chicago's Knuckle Puck will have ghouls and goblins pogoing and maybe saying Beetlejuice three times.
Joliet singer and guitarist Nick DiNardo is now an accomplished solo artist, Nine years ago, he had a fiery ferocity to his vocals fronting Skull King. Back to this week in 2011, when I first introduced them to Kat 105.5 listeners in the Joliet/Kankakee area.

As long as you play it safe (nasking and social distancing) you can still rock at a venue in America. Socially close inside your ears and brain, the best and newest original local metal, punk, power pop,alt-rock and prog from all over Chicago and Illinois,
They may have started as a highly aggressive and pissed off punk band, but Joliet's Prison City Brigade has evolved into a more melodic and progressive act on their third akbum,Rough Skeletons. I'll spin 2 tracks from it before they take their new mature sound for crowds to experience at Brauerhouse in Lombard for the first weekend of October.
Drummer Mike Getz (Makalu Gee on Facebook) lent his stellar skin pounding to a mostly undiscovered jam band,Hillside's Wiresky. Discover the special female fronted groove of this 4 piece.
Sounding like they could have fit right in with the jangly guitar driven (and slightly electronic) power pop of Cheap Trick and Off Broadway, The Bishop's Daredevil Stunt Club of Frankfort made a big change from funky, psychedelic hard rock to melodic upbeat guitar rock. Save our stages. The COVID-19 pandemic has financially hurt many venues in Chicago and surrounding areas. Some face the reality of closing for good. Some are re opening despite the restrictions. Until it is safe to venture out to a venue, journey by opening up your mind and ears. Local Loft gives you a virtual tour to who's rocking and where.
Diabolic Menace from far Southwest Suburban Bradley plays it much like old school progressive thrash metal of the 80s. I've got two singles from them as they join Sinister Fate to conjure up gruesome Halloween images to spook and eerily decorate your subconscious as October begins at Brauerhouse in Lombard.
Combining graphic, horrific images for 35 years, Chicago Horror Metal trio Macabre returns with scalding sneak peek at their first new full length album in 9 years.
Their name sounded like a severe mind condition. A.D.D. had more brains completely focused than drifting away from their ultra powerful blend of melodic guitar driven metal, with the blazing and intimate vocals of Margaret Young. We go back 7 years this week, when two fourths of the band made the trip to The Kat 105.5 studio to preview their third and biggest record,Core.
