Veteran Joliet rockers Deadman's Hand are actively working on a new EP where the vocals don't grunt and are clean, and the groove pounds into your brain tissue like a sonic drill, We get a two song sneak listen to their new work,temporarily titled Rubusto Supremo: The Couch Burning Sessions.

Manteno's Ephinepic and three other hard charging metal bands get ready to rip the stage wide open. Singer Cody Zupan rocks up a riot with his other famous band,Extraction Point, in a new music video from their forthcoming second release, Campaign For Human Degradation.

Belly up to the cyberwaves, the music's on us. There will be no escaping or masking the mental image of an up and coming or established local band spinning heads and causing concertgoers to butt arms in the mosh pit. It's is possible to safely do that in person if you safely follow COVID health precautions, but for now just use your imagination that you are there.
Steator's Self Imposed Exile is embarking on the careful journey to psych up and spook out socially spaced out crowds in a Halloween Hellfest at the Terminus Theatre in Lake Villa. Before you make the choice to treat yourself to their live show,experience a modern day metal rock opera with two tracks from their eclectic debut, Mountainside.
Riot Fest was cancelled this summer because of the pandemic,but it's brand is hoping for a spooktacular turn out at a Halloween drive=in outdoor fest combining live local punk and classic horror film screenings. Chicago's Knuckle Puck will have ghouls and goblins pogoing and maybe saying Beetlejuice three times.
Joliet singer and guitarist Nick DiNardo is now an accomplished solo artist, Nine years ago, he had a fiery ferocity to his vocals fronting Skull King. Back to this week in 2011, when I first introduced them to Kat 105.5 listeners in the Joliet/Kankakee area.

Yes the Covid pandemic has made it difficult,but not impossible, to check out original local music anywhere in Chicagoland or Illinois. As long as you play it safe (nasking and social distancing) you can still rock at a venue in America. Local Loft gives you the scoop on which venues and bands continue to operate and play, along with the virtual soundtrack to discover.
Stolen Skies brings a radio friendly aggressive but melodic hard rock sound to The Forge in Joliet,where they will open for Adelita's Way in the middle of October. They also will headlining at the first show in seven months at the Punk bunker on North Avenue,Exit. I have two tracks from their debut self titled EP.
October has been a very scary month for veteran rocker deaths. Forgotten Chicago Punk rockers Naked Raygun lost their longtime bassist,Pierre Kezdy on October 9th. A provocative nugget from them in tribute,and getting you pumped for a special virtual drive in 30th anniversary show in Bridgeview for Pegboy.

Dekalb progressive metal act Mind Excavation can out rock the unclean grunting metal vocal acts. This four piece act recalls the sophisticated progressive style of Queensryche and Armored Saint,even forgotten Chicago doom metal band,Trouble, who they toured with three years ago. Two tracks off their new full length album, Fragments of  Mind, to rock you into a trippy parallel universe.
A hairy future for ex Emperors and Elephants drummer Jason Meudt, in new motley metal band Stradlin Rosie, who will open for cult Chicago Hair Band, Diamond Rexx at a mid October gig in West Chicago.
Blending Southern Rock and Outlaw Country, Hogtown Packing Company drew a huge truck driving, biker chap wearing crowd to their shows,including the first Freakster's Roadhouse in Wilmington. Rock back nine years ago this week for the first time they introduced themselves on The Kat 105.5 airwaves.

They may have started as a highly aggressive and pissed off punk band,but Joliet's Prison City Brigade has evolved into a more melodic and progressive act on their third akbum,Rough Skeletons. I'll spin 2 tracks from it before they take their new mature sound for crowds to experience at Brauerhouse in Lombard for the first weekend of October.
Drummer Mike Getz (Makalu Gee on Facebook) lent his stellar skin pounding to a mostly undiscovered jam band,Hillside's Wiresky. Discover the special female fronted groove of this 4 piece.
Sounding like they could have fit right in with the jangly guitar driven (and slightly electronic) power pop of Cheap Trick and Off Broadway, The Bishop's Daredevil Stunt Club of Frankfort made a big change from funky,psychedelic hard rock to melodic upbeat guitar rock. While we await the day and year when we can all gather without masks and social distancing to experience live local music again,gather within close proximity of a wi-fi connection and rock the bad vibes of the invisible enemy away.
Even Record Store Day has suffered because of limit physical trips to your favorite brick and mortar place to add to the music collection. That'd not stopping veteran doom sludge Chicago metal band Pale Horseman from releasing a new colored splatter vinyl LP pressing of their new fifth full length album,For Dust Thou Art. I drop the digital stylus on two tracks from it.
