Extraction Point is a hardcore metal supergroup. Founding member Robb Serrano played drums for Odonrot,guitarist Rick Lancaster was in Joliet's Whut, Singer Cody Zupan was in Kankakee's Ephinepic,but also got his start in cult Chicago metal bands Regin Inferno and God Dementia. The five man band tears it up at the annual Prison City Halloween Massacre. I talk to them from The Forge in Joliet about their debut CD,Purification Through Hatred.
Black Road makes Halloween the day of deliverance,for their brand new full length album, Witch of the Future.And trick or treat day is a real treat for fans of Tides Cult,a new five piece Chicago hardcore metal band, to get rocked to the extreme with their debut release.

Rockin you up...and spookin you out. It's another chilling,thrilling soundtrack of bands that do more than just go bump in the night. They make your walls and you inner cranium go thump to the point of explosion and extreme slam dancing.
Cult underground Chicago Punk band Hotlips Messiah has been around over a decade, but has just released the most extensive album of their career,Disco Miscarriage. 46 tracks of a hard driving mixture of ultra fast Punk rock and spacy late 70s new wave. I talk to this bizarre,but very funny,high energy 4 piece band,as they rock all things human,and mutant,at Wire in Berwyn.
Black Road casts an extensive spell of grimy guitar riffs and medieval witch imagery on perhaps the longest single 45 record ever recorded (almost eleven minutes),and will scare up a rockin bash in downtown Joliet the weekend before Halloween. While just down the street in the Prison City,Extraction Point,Whut and a few other local metal bands unlock a fierce groove at the annual Prison City Halloween Massacre at The Forge.

Carrie Morse whipped a moshing hardcore metal crowd into a frenzy as part of the all female band,Violet Kill. Now,she commands the spotlight as singer of Remorse Code. The Skies Are Shifting is a five piece Chicago melodic metal/punk pop band with a polished Pop vocal from singer Nick Perry. They are working on a follow up Ep to their 2018 debut,Embers on the Windowsill,which is a big leap ahead from the raw,rough sound of that. I discover more about their unique call and response,angry meets passionate vocal style as I talk to them before rocking a Sunday night crowd at Wire in Berwyn.
Joliet's Blacken the Day returns with their second EP,Maniae,and rocks on with an sophisticated blend of screaming fierce metal and sultry jazz,with a touch of baroque classical string sections,as they part ways with a co-founder.

Chicago evil grunge band The Illogical goes to great extremes in promoting their sound. They have made a two part short thriller film for Serpent Charmer,the first single from their new record,The Awakening. The scary, heart stopping results could compete with Rob Zombie for the greatest modern blending of music and film. I talk to them before they bring their theatrical hard rock to Wire in Berwyn.
Of Wolves ends a seven year hiatus with an extensive return, while melodic hard rockers Punch Cabbie bring their eleven year rocking run to an end. And it's the beginning of one of the biggest anticipated metal bands,Extraction Point.

From the Forest City to the Prison City...local Chicagoland area and Illinois metal,punk,alt-rock and prog acts rock with a thunder that will chase away any threat of severe storms and damaging winds.
Rockford's On My Six first got discovered opening for one of the biggest groove metal bands on the planet,Sevendust. The five man award winning band has been a headliner at the summer's largest festival,Revival. They rock a packed crowd with the roof of Wire in Berwyn shaking after I talk to them.
In a 40 year run, Chicago hard rockers Lynch have become their own headlining act,commanding much more attention as Y & T,Pat Travers,and Montrose,some of the major acts they have opened for. They are sadly,hanging it up. I share a thankful,yet angry moment of their past I captured live on radio.
